Queen Elizabeth II to Visit The Sands......

The Queen will make her first visit to Scarborough since 1975 when she comes to the town to officially open The Sands Open Air Theatre - at the heart of The Sands Development.

The Queen will arrive to Scarborough on Thursday 20th May with her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, via Royal Train and will head straight away to the newly-restored £4 million development where she will unveil a plaque to commemorate the opening of the site.

Queen Elizabeth II will firstly watch a short theatrical performance before officially opening the 6,500 seat theatre. The Queen and the Duke will then travel by car to Cloughton to have a pub lunch with duchy residents and visit local shops and farms.

This is the third time that the reigning monarch has visited Scarborough, the first being when King Richard III visited in 1484.
