A new state-of-the-art, indoor water park and pool could be built on the former Atlantis site at the forefront of The Sands Development.
The new all-weather water park would be a major attraction to residents and holiday makers alike and would be open year round.
David Rhodes, the firm's managing director, said "There is a strong desire to build this attraction on the Scarborough Atlantis site."
This has been confirmed by Pauline Elliot, the Head of the Councils Regeneration and Planning, who said: "An application will be shortly coming before the planning commitee for leisure use on the site of The Sands."
Mr Rhodes added: " We are working with Scarborough Council and architects at the moment. There would be a variety of features which would provide a fantastic tourist attraction. The intention is to build a big facility which would be open year round. It is still early days but hopefully we can start work soon."
Mr Rhodes has confirmed they hope to have the proposed 5,500 seat open-air theatre ready for next summer. He said: "Restoring the theatre has been something we wanted to do. If it gets the go-ahead, we aim to start work later this year. We would restore the seating and there are plans to include a huge digital screen on the stage. It would be fantastic for Scarborough."
Mr Rhodes said he was already in talks with an operator who was lining up top acts and shows for the venue.
He added: "It will attract some top events and shows but there would be smaller events as well. It will be a great asset to the town."
Robert Dean, Director of The Sands, the holiday mangement company for the Sands development, said: "This is fantastic news. The leisure facilities are a very important asset to the Sands Resort and holiday accommodation. Guests staying in the self catering apartments of The Sands will have exclusive access to the water park at certain times and they would also have free entry.
"The open-air theatre is at the heart of the Sands Resort and we will look to offer accommodation and ticket packages to holiday makers for all the major acts that will be performing there."
As soon as all the plans have been finalised we will be posting all news and updates here, so keep checking back!!

M y wife and I make regular trips to scarborough, and it is quite exciting to see all the development going on.We live at Doncaster, but I bring my car for service at the local Ford dealers, and we have a day in Scarborough. So over the years we have watched much of the development grow. The sands looks a very good quality prospect.Look forward to seeing the completed development.Good luck.
